Wichita Falls Artist | Betsy Edwards

My friend Betsy Edwards called — well actually, she Facebooked (is that a new verb???) me about taking photographs of her artwork to update her website.  I hadn’t seen her in a while so I thought that this  would be a great time to catch up and see her collection of art.  What I love most about Betsy’s artwork is that it makes me smile!  She uses bright, bold, beautiful colors that evoke warmth, energy — and sheer happiness (just like Betsy)!

While photographing her artwork, I was able to get the 411 on how she developed this wonderful talent.  Betsy’s  love of painting started when she was very young as she painted alongside her mother (also a very talented artist).  The journey can probably best be told in her own words:

“As years passed, I painted a little here and there but never became devoted to painting like my mother. I always thought I would some day “when I had time”. As my mother developed Alzheimer’s, painting together became a way  of helping her stay connected to the present. After she lost the battle to Alzheimer’s, I immediately enrolled in an art class at Midwestern State University as a tribute to her life and to keep her memory alive in my mind.  A passion began to ignite in me. That first art class was like the spark that turned into a wildfire.”

Let me guess — you’re smiling right?  I knew it!  Betsy’s work is happiness on canvas!  Please visit her site — better yet — hang some sunshine on your walls!

Frances, the Betsy Edwards art looks absolutely beautiful. I think you did a great job on these pieces.
